Open Source Software: MOOSE: The Multiphysics Simulation Powerhouse

Department of Energy · BATTELLE ENERGY ALLIANCE–DOE CNTR
Account requiredWhy it scored this way

Every reason behind the verdict rather than the headline one — which of your certifications match, how much runway is left, whether the work is your size, and what we would need to know to sharpen it.

Draft the paperwork

Written against this notice and what you have told us about your company. Anything we do not know is marked [NEEDS INPUT] in the draft rather than guessed at — read it before you send it.

Start a free trial to draft these. Nothing is sent to an agency on your behalf, ever — you get a document to review, edit and submit yourself.

Sources Sought response

A complete draft response — capability statement, relevant past performance, business size and socioeconomic status, and answers to the agency's specific questions.

Questions to submit

Genuine ambiguities and requirements that disadvantage a smaller bidder, drafted as questions you can submit before the Q&A deadline.

Past performance write-ups

Which of your prior awards best match this requirement, and draft write-ups in the format the agency asked for.

Statement of work, as posted

Open Source Software: MOOSE: The Multiphysics Simulation Powerhouse The demand for versatile, powerful simulation tools in scientific computing and engineering has never increased. Enter the Multiphysics Object-Oriented Simulation Environment (MOOSE), a state-of-the-art finite-element framework that promises to revolutionize how researchers and engineers approach multiphysics problems. Developed by the prestigious Idaho National Laboratory, MOOSE emerged from a need to tackle complex, real-world scientific challenges with precision and efficiency. Traditional simulation tools struggled with the nonlinear complexities inherent in multiphysics problems, leading to the development of MOOSE, which leverages advanced nonlinear solver technology to offer unmatched computational capabilities. MOOSE provides a high-level interface that simplifies the complexity of multiphysics simulations. Its core features include a fully-coupled, fully-implicit multiphysics solver, dimension-independent physics, automatic parallelization for large-scale simulations, and modular development for code reuse. With built-in mesh adaptivity and Continuous and Discontinuous Galerkin methods, MOOSE is designed to be both powerful and intuitive, ensuring researchers can focus on their work without getting bogged down by the intricacies of the simulation software. Advantages: Streamlined Multiphysics Simulation: Tackle complex problems with a fully coupled, implicit solver. Scalability: Effortlessly scales to over 100,000 CPU cores for large-scale computations. Flexibility: Dimension-independent physics and ~30 pluggable interfaces cater to various scientific disciplines. User-Friendly: An intuitive API and flexible GUI simplify the user experience from setup to execution. Advanced Features: Continuous and Discontinuous Galerkin methods, mesh adaptivity, and parallel multiscale solves. Applications: Engineering Analysis: Design and validate engineering solutions across various disciplines. Scientific Research: Conduct sophisticated physics, materials science, and beyond research. Energy Sector: Optimize renewable energy integration and nuclear reactor simulations. Environmental Studies: Model ecological impact and sustainability measures. Embark on a journey of discovery and innovation with MOOSE. Visit mooseframework.org or download it today to explore its capabilities, access installation instructions, and start transforming your research with the leading edge in multiphysics simulation technology. INL’s Technology Deployment department focuses exclusively on licensing intellectual property and partnering with industry collaborators capable of commercializing our innovations. Our goal is to commercialize the technologies developed by INL researchers. We do not engage in purchasing, manufacturing, procurement decisions, or providing funding. Additionally, this is not a call for external services to assist in the development of this technology.
